Busch Gardens - Tampa, Florida

While looking through my giant container of postcards today I discovered a whole stack of Busch Gardens postcards that I didn't even know I possessed.  It's funny to look at the park in these early pictures before all of the attractions and rides that were added later.  I will continue posting these over the next week or two.
The World Famous Budweiser Clydesdale 8-horse Team is pictured here at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida.  The tower of Anheuser-Busch's magnificent brewery is visible in the background.  The Clydesdale breed originated in Scotland.  Each horse weighs around 2,000 pounds and stands about 6 feet high.  In spite of their enormous size, Clydesdales are extremely gentle and affectionate.

Dunker Church
Sharpsburg, Maryland
The Dunker Church was erected in 1853 by the German Baptist Brethren.  During the battle of Antietam Sept. 17, 1862 the wounded of both armies sought and found sanctuary within its walls.  The church was seriously damaged by the fire of union batteries during the battles.  The building was repaired and worship resumed in the summer of 1864.  At this place some of the bitterest fighting of the war between the states took place.  It was the key to the Confederate defenses and changed hands several times.  It was used as a place of worship until May 1921 when it was severely damaged by a wind storm.  The church was rebuilt in 1961-62 by the National Park Service.
