Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona

Jasper Forest, Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona
A prime mystery of geology - thousands of acres of agatized logs that lie prone on the ground, in a vast basin once the bed of an ancient sea.  The cross sections of these logs reveal brilliant colors - every tint of the rainbow.
