Chicago, Illinois

Chicago, that wonderful town, wonderful in the sense that it is one of the four largest cities in the world and is growing all of the time.  Destroyed by fire in 1871, it was rebuilt within 3 years.  It is the world's greatest railroad center.

In this pictured section of Chicago may be seen more of Chicago's finest buildings.  At the corner is the Drake Hotel - and behind it the Palmolive Building.

In honor of Clarence Buckingham, Patron of Art and a member of the Art institute, this fountain was presented to the city by his sister, Miss Kate Buckingham.  It is patterned after the fountain of Versailles, and is the largest fountain of its type in the world.  It cost more than $1,000,000 to build.
