Palomar Observatory, California

San Diego County, California
On Palomar Mountain, 69 miles north of San Diego is the largest astronomical observatory in the world.  Engineers at the California Institute of Technology spent many years in the grinding and polishing of the great 200-inch mirror lens, the largest reflector known to man.  This observatory consists of seven buildings, costing over $6,000,000.00.
