Smithsonian Museum of History and Technology

The Foucault Pendulum which demonstrates the rotation of the earth.  The pendulum swings to and fro always in the same line, while the earth (and therefore the floor) rotates beneath it.  Museum of History and Technology, Smithsonian Institution.

The Cable Car, a single truck grip car built in 1888 for the Yesler Way cable line in Seattle, Washington.  The car has a side grip and weighs about 3 1/2 tons.  Railroad Hall, Museum of History and Technology, Smithsonian Institution.
