Smithsonian Museum of Natural History

The Collection at the Natural History Museum numbers millions of specimens.  All objects of art, curios, research, natural history, plants, geological and mineralogical specimens of the United States are to be found here.  The largest and most valuable groups of animal will be found here also.

Natural History Building, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C., containing U.S. National Museum exhibits pertaining to anthropology, geology, and zoology and also the National Collection of Fine Arts.

The Hope Diamond
Perhaps the world's best-known diamond.  Probably part of the "French Blue," brought to France from Indian in 1668, stolen in 1792, and appearing, re-cut to its present state, in 1830.  44 1/2 carats.  Here reproduced actual size.  Exhibited in Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution.  Gift of Harry Winston.
